WaveMedRadCard™ · RadPatch
Use case 24 · Automotive Supply

At the crash scene,
the car speaks for the driver.

The airbag protects the driver. The sun visor tells paramedics the driver's blood type.

A RadPatch on the sun visor and the key, a RadCard™ on the dashboard. Paramedics read the driver's blood type, medication and insurer in one second: the smallest safety option handed over with a new car.

Automotive Supply
Who it is for

For car makers and dealers, rental companies, motor insurers and taxi, bus and truck operators who want the safety they sell to keep working after the crash, at the roadside.

At the crash scene, the driver is the one person who cannot answer

  • Paramedics first need the driver's blood type, medication and someone to call. But the driver is unconscious, and the wallet is somewhere in the car.
  • In a single-vehicle crash at night there is no passenger to answer for them, and the family's number is locked inside a phone.
  • A foreign rental customer carries their details, if at all, in a language local paramedics cannot read, and the car knows nothing about who is driving it.
  • Afterwards the claim starts with gathering the policy number and papers all over again. For someone who drives all day, even the medication list lives only in their memory.

Motorway, 11 p.m.

  1. Delivery day

Rafael, 52, collects his new car. The welcome gift: maker-logo RadPatches on the sun visor and the key, and a RadCard™. With the dealer's help he installs the free WaveMed app, enters his blood type, diabetes and insulin, his insurer and policy number and his wife Lucy's number, writes them to both patches and notes down the PIN. He photographs his insurance certificate into the app's document folder.

  2. 23:05

Three months later, driving home alone on the motorway, Rafael leaves the road. A single-vehicle crash: he is unconscious, there is no passenger, and his wallet has slid somewhere under the seats.

  3. 23:12

A paramedic holds a phone with 𝒱WaveMed to the patch on the sun visor for one second: blood type, diabetes, on insulin, insurer and policy number, Lucy's number. No internet, no login, and nothing can be changed.

  4. 23:40

The hospital had the diabetes information from the crew before he arrived. Lucy, called on the number from the patch, is on her way, and has already reported the crash to the insurer with the policy number the crew read out to her.

  5. The next week

Back home, Rafael opens WaveMed. The insurance certificate he added on delivery day is still in his document folder; he photographs the diagnosis letter into the same folder and exports the full report as a PDF. Nothing for the claim has to be gathered twice.

Before anyone asks, the car already answers

  • Where the driver always is: a 25 × 25 mm RadPatch stuck to the sun visor and to the car key, and a RadCard™ on the dashboard or in the wallet. If the driver ends up away from the car, the patch on the key in their pocket is still with them. Patch and card share one data format, so the same apps read either.
  • One second, no signal needed: a current smartphone held to the blue cross shows blood type, allergies, current medication, diabetes emergency information, emergency contacts and, if chosen, insurance details, in the reader's language, in any of 27 languages. No battery, no internet, no login and no connection to the vehicle system.
  • Read-only at the roadside: 𝒱WaveMed, for paramedics, emergency responders and fire crews, reads the patch and cannot change it. It holds only what the driver chose, encrypted, and only their four-digit PIN can update it.
  • Rental customers from abroad: they register in their own language at the counter, local paramedics read it in theirs, and it is erased when the car is returned. In the app, the emergency report switches language on the spot.
  • The free WaveMed app, before and after: insurance certificates and claim papers in each person's document folder, a 30-day blood sugar trend in mg/dL and mmol/L for drivers on insulin, and at the roadside a satellite view to send the exact spot, nearby medical centres with emergency rooms marked, and the country's ride apps opening with the hospital already filled in, in around 60 countries.

Where it is read

How to roll it out

  1. Pilot with one model or one rental branch: maker- or company-logo patches, RadCard™ cards and a registration guide for dealers and counter staff.
  2. At hand-over or at the rental counter, the customer installs the free WaveMed app, writes only the details they choose in their own language and notes the PIN; rental patches are erased at return (Path A).
  3. Taxi, bus and truck operators register drivers in list order with WaveMed Desktop and a reader, using the details each driver agreed to share and the company's number, as a driver safety programme (Path B).
  4. Design a discount tied to motor insurance policies together with insurers, then let accident-response cases and customer feedback extend it to every model and branch.

Frequently asked questions

Does it connect to the vehicle system?

No. The patch and card are read independently of the car, so there is nothing to install in the vehicle. Vehicle-screen integration can be discussed if wanted.

What happens to a rental customer's information after return?

It is erased with the PIN when the car is returned. While they drive, the patch holds only what the customer chose, encrypted, and readers can only read it.

Can anyone who opens the car door read the driver's details?

The patch holds only what the driver chose to show in an emergency. Changing or erasing it needs the PIN, and apps other than the WaveMed family cannot open it.
